About Vincent Deitchman

Mr. Vincent Deitchman is a Criminalist and the Latent Prints Technical Lead with the Santa Clara County Crime Laboratory.

Mr. Deitchman has over 18 years of forensics experience.  He began his career at the Oakland Police Department Criminalistics Division where he was responsible for the analysis of physical evidence in the areas of latent prints and controlled substances.  Several years later he moved to the Santa Clara County Crime Laboratory where he currently performs casework in latent print processing and controlled substances. He has trained several criminalists in latent print processing and supervised the validation of a new latent print processing technique. Over his career, he has worked on thousands of latent print cases.

Mr. Deitchman has qualified as an expert witness in various forensic disciplines (latent prints, controlled substances analysis, DNA collection, and crime scene investigation).  He has testified in court over 100 times in the California Superior Courts of Alameda County and Santa Clara County. 

Mr. Deitchman is certified by the American Board of Criminalistics in general criminalistics and he is a Certified Latent Print Examiner by the International Association for Identification.  He is a member of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences, the California Association of Criminalists, and the International Association for Identification.

Mr. Deitchman received his J.D. from Lincoln Law School of San Jose in 2016 and his B.S. in Forensic Science and Chemistry (Biochemistry) Cum Laude from the California State University, Sacramento in 1997.  He has guest lectured at the California State University, Sacramento and the San Jose State University.
