John Calvin Gaziano is the owner of Pinnacle Forensics and a distinguished crime scene expert with over 28 years of law enforcement experience, 20 of which were dedicated to the Crime Scene Unit. Certified by the International Association for Identification (IAI) and recognized as an expert by the courts, John brings unparalleled expertise to his field. He also holds a homicide investigation certificate of achievement from the Institute of Criminal Investigation (ICI).

John’s illustrious career includes serving as Sergeant of the Crime Scene Investigation Unit at the Fremont Police Department, where he processed, analyzed, and reconstructed thousands of crime scenes. His extensive training, encompassing thousands of hours in bloodstain pattern analysis and crime scene investigation, has equipped him with a profound understanding of forensic science.

Educationally, John holds a Master of Forensic Science degree from National University, a Master of Science degree from San Jose State University, and a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of California, Berkeley.

A seasoned lecturer, John has shared his expertise at over 100 conferences and forensic science groups nationwide. Since 2011, he has been consulting and providing comprehensive crime scene training, with a focus on courses covering bloodstain pattern analysis and crime scene photography. He plans to expand his course offerings in the future.

Throughout his career, John has been deeply involved in research and writing within the field of bloodstain pattern analysis. His notable contributions include the publication of “Crime Scene Photography” in 2016, featuring a dedicated section on bloodstain pattern analysis photography and documentation. Additionally, he authored the manual “Bloodstain Pattern Analysis: An Investigative Approach” in 2011 and his college thesis titled “Reconstruction of Bloodstain Impact Patterns: Error Rates” in 2017.

Passionate about teaching, John finds fulfillment in equipping aspiring crime scene investigators with the necessary skills for success. He is dedicated to fostering increased competency in every student who attends his courses.
