Mr. Gaziano, the owner of Gaziano Forensic Consulting, retired from the Fremont Police Department in 2021 after serving for over 27 years. He spent two decades in the Crime Scene Investigation Unit and was promoted to sergeant, where he supervised and trained team members.
Mr. Gaziano has processed, analyzed, and reconstructed thousands of crime scenes (e.g., homicides, officer-involved shootings, violent felonies, sexual assaults, and suicides). He has thousands of hours of bloodstain and crime scene investigation training. He currently consults and testifies in court as a bloodstain pattern expert.
Mr. Gaziano is a Certified Bloodstain Pattern Analyst (CBPA) and Certified Senior Crime Scene Analyst (CSCSA) with the International Association for Identification (IAI). He holds a specialization certificate in homicide investigation from the Robert Presley Institute of Criminal Investigation (ICI).
Mr. Gaziano holds a Master of Forensic Science Degree from National University, La Jolla, CA, and a Master of Science degree in Criminal Justice Administration from San Jose State, San Jose, CA.
Mr. Gaziano authored a bloodstain pattern analysis photography and documentation section in E. M. Robinson’s Crime Scene Photography book (3rd edition) – Academic Press/Elsevier. He wrote a 233-page manual for a course he teaches titled Bloodstain Pattern Analysis: An Investigative Approach. He also authored a 116-page thesis titled Reconstruction of Bloodstain Impact Patterns: Error Rates.
