KOUROSH NIKOUI, Forensic Specialist

Mr. Nikoui has over 38 years of full-time experience in the Criminal Justice Information System as a Forensic Science practitioner professional with Law Enforcement Agencies. His career spans increasing responsibility in both the Independent Identification Process and Management of the Law Enforcement Forensic Identification Services Unit, as well as Training and Supervising Forensic Identification Specialists and Crime Scene Investigators.

MICHAEL STAPLETON, Forensic Specialist

Mr. Stapleton, Founder of Forensics R Us, retired from the Federal Bureau of Investigation after a career that spanned over 34 years. While with the FBI Special Agent Stapleton had assignments in Washington, D.C., St. Louis, Seattle, San Francisco and Sacramento. As a Special Agent, Mr. Stapleton investigated an extensive range of matters that come under FBI jurisdiction.

BEN BAVARIAN, Forensic Specialist

Dr. Bavarian has 36 years of management, business development, strategic technology development, business turn around and academic experience. In the field of Human Identification using Biometrics and Automated Fingerprint Identification Systems (AFIS). Dr. Bavarian is a pioneer and an authority in the Identification Industry and by colleagues and customers has been recognized as the “Father of the Modern AFIS”.

JAMES GREEN, Document Examiner

James A. Green is a Diplomate of the American Board of Forensic Document Examiners with over three decades of experience.  He has a diverse background having worked both civil and criminal cases (for both the defense and prosecution.)

Mr. Green’s career began in 1988, serving 12 years as the Forensic Document Examiner for the Eugene OR Police Department.  In 2000, he established his private practice, analyzing documents mainly having legal significance related to wills and other estate related documents.  Other civil cases have involved letters related to contacts, mortgage documents, checks, financial records, medical records, and so forth.  Criminal cases have involved vehicle titles, prescriptions, threatening and harassing notes, homicides, checks, etc.

After earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology from the University of Oregon, has continued his professional development by regularly attending training conferences and workshops.  The training is provided by recognized organizations such as the American Society of Questioned Document Examiners, American Academy of Forensic Sciences – Questioned Document Section, and the Southwest Association of Forensic Document Examiners.

Mr. Green’s commitment to his field extends beyond his casework.  He served as the President of the American Society of Questioned Document Examiners from 2012 to 2014 and continues to hold positions with the professional organizations he maintains memberships with.  He is the immediate past-Chair of the Questioned Document Section of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences (AAFS.)   Mr. Green is also on the Editorial Review Board for the Journal of the American Society of Questioned Document Examiners.

Through his lengthy experience, Mr. Green has provided expert testimony in various jurisdictions, including federal courts in California, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Washington, and Washington D.C., as well as in numerous state courts.  He has also presented testimony in Canada.  His testimony has been accepted in over 150 cases.

Furthermore, Mr. Green has made notable contributions to the field through his publications and presentations.  His work has been published in the Journal of the American Society of Questioned Document Examiners and the Journal of Forensic Sciences. He has also presented papers at professional conferences and provided training for law enforcement agencies in Oregon, Washington, and the Caribbean.

James A. Green’s extensive background, full range of laboratory instruments, an on-going dedication to professional development, and contributions to the field of forensic document examination, have solidified his reputation as a well-qualified Forensic Document Examiner.

VINCENT DEITCHMAN, Forensic Specialist

Mr. Deitchman has over 30 years of forensics experience. He began his career at the Oakland Police Department Criminalistics Division where he was responsible for the analysis of physical evidence in the areas of latent prints and controlled substances. Several years later he moved to the Santa Clara County Crime Laboratory where he currently performs casework in latent print processing and controlled substances. He has trained several criminalists in latent print processing and supervised the validation of a new latent print processing technique. Over his career, he has worked on thousands of latent print cases.

MATIN BRIAN NIKOUI, Forensic Specialist

Mr. Matin Brian Nikoui has received a Master of Forensic Science degree from the National University. He also graduated from the San Jose State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Forensic Science, concentrated in Biology. He has completed two years of forensic science training at the Mission Valley Regional Occupational Program in Fremont, California. He also has completed a 14-months long internship program in the DNA unit of San Mateo County Sheriff’s Crime Laboratory and almost a year of employment as a Criminalist I with the Santa Cruz Sheriff Crime Laboratory. Currently, Matin is now employed as a Lab Associate II, GMP at Synthego Corporation in Redwood City California.

Matin has been working part-time at the Nikoui and Associates firm since 2014, conducting evidence processing, digital image enhancements, fingerprint evaluation and comparisons, and many other related administrative and technical tasks.

Since 2015, he has been a member of the International Association for Identification.
